Romantic 'Be With You'.

Ima, Ai ni Yukimasu. Now this is what I call best romance movie, like, ever!
[Note: Yes, it is better than 'The Notebook'. 'P.S. I Love You' is not included yet though.]

Here's a simple plot I picked up from some sources for your reading pleasure. I did kinda edited it a little.

Mio's death left her husband Aio Takumi and 6-years-old son Aio Yuji fending for themselves. Taku occasionally suffers fainting spells, especially in the crowded places. Taku feared and has the regrets that his health may have hindered Mio's happiness. Yuji, on the other hand, overheard his relatives speculating that his delivery had compromised Mio's health since then. He blamed himself for his mother's death. Taku tells Yuji that Mio had left for the 'Akaibo Star' and will return when the rainy season starts, and he himself believed the story to be true. Apparently, Mio had promised them this. So, life during that one year was more or less based on the hope that they will see Mio again. When the rain started to pour, Yuji brought his father to the special old shack, where Mio and him used to play in. He was to find the time capsule they both hid, without the knowledge of Taku. Instead of finding the time capsule, they found a woman bearing an uncanny resemblance of Mio. Sadly, she has no recollection of who she is or why she is out there in the woods alone and lost. Family resumes from where they were left off, and they cherished every moment they had together in that six weeks. Taku recounts a tale of years of missed chances since high school until she encouraged their marriage years later. The time together was short-lived when the sun shines again, as it was time for Mio to go away once more. But that wasn't after Yuji found the time capsule and what's in it. A diary.

Not only were the plot beautifully written, the castings were made so perfectly that every dialogue and emotion were portrayed oh-so-beautifully. Could I ever find a better word to describe that?!!
At first I really thought the father, Taku, looked retarded and was supposed to be one. =p That's where the son's role comes in, to take care of the father upon his mother's death.
Boy, is he a real cute fella!! Seriously, watching him in the movie, one would just want to reach out for him.

There are a few parts of the story which I really, really enjoyed watching. There's this one unforgettable scene when Yuji hung up a teru-teru bozu outside his classroom, wishing for rain to come soon. Then there's the scene when the family would stroll in the woods together hand-in-hand. Then there's the part when Taku tells Mio of their love story, his version of it of course. And then comes my most favourite part.

Ahhhh!! The best part of it all is surely, definitely, absolutely, unquestionably the ending part. The part when Taku reads Mio's diary.
What amazed me was not about the miracle. What blew me off was certainly not about the impossibility of anything like that to happen in real life.
But really it's simply about the different versions of a love story. The Taku version and the Mio version. It's about how chances go by so easily if it is not grabbed at that very instance. It's about how beautiful a sacrifice would seem to be in the name of love. Oh, I could be speechless.

And I really should stop here. Or else, I could end up telling you every little part of the story already!
For a better spoiler, you might wanna read this and this.

Alright, I shall find time to watch this drama again, I wouldn't mind watching it for the ten-thousandth time around. Wanna join? :P

'Age Of Glory'

Oh...my...God!
Believe it or not, I actually just finished watching the whole of a Malaysian drama.
Read my lips. M-a-l-a-y-s-i-a-n drama.
Not missing one episode, nor a scene. The first for me.

It was aired on Ntv7, and I watched a lil back in Penang during the holidays. Captured the drama-freak in me and I was determined to watch the whole of it. And I did, thanks to Ntv7.
I actually watched it from the Ntv7 webpage. [Pretty amazing streaming speed, I'd say.]

Imagine this from me, I have not complained a BIT of the drama, yet.
Miraculously enough, I am even complimenting it and promoting it to my friends.
They asked why do I watch such drama. My answer is pretty simple, because it is a Malaysian production and it is so worthy to be given the credits.
Trust me when I say so. It's hard to hear it from me too, especially about Malaysian dramas. You know how they used to suck in acting and how bad their storylines are.

But..this is a totally different thing from those typical Malaysian drama.
With Debbie Goh as the lead actress, I love the drama even more.
She is so convincing with her role that you might just cry together with her
[at the last episode, if you are a crying-drama-queen]. It was really touching and seemed so real. For the first time ever, they had made the perfect casting.

So, what's the drama about?
Well, it's about the life of a typical Malaysian girl back in the 60's and 70's.
About how she ranaway from home with her lover [I doubt she even knows that she loves him when she ranaway with him] after a dispute with the father, got into trouble when the lover turns to a gambling-addict and eventually turning her life upside-down. Her life was pretty much screwed up but she got back up on her own two feet and hung on with the flow of life. Tough girl, I'd say. I could never imagine doing the things she does.
Reality check, I don't have to. *phew*

The other two girls came into the picture later and became her two bestest friends. By luck, I'd say. You know how this fate thing goes anyway.
Aenie Wong stars as a servant at the beginning and you will see how her life evolves, while Daniella Dai is this singer-wannabe from a fishing village.
Of the three, I'm not especially fond of Daniella's role [or rather acting, or just her scripts?]. I don't know.

'Nuff said. Check it out yourself. ;)
This is a truly Malaysian Boleh drama, uh. *winks*

p/s:
Oh, and the theme song is absolutely awesome! Anyone has the mp3 version of it? =p
Double oh, did you know Debbie was a Miss Chinese International Malaysia back in 1998? Patutlah so pretty. Hehe. Her voice is super-sweet too!
Triple oh, I saw Mei Fen in the drama. *LOL* It felt a lil weird though. Haha.

Ah Long Pte. Ltd.

At first, I was quite reluctant to pay RM10 to watch this movie in the cinema. I had preferred to watch something erm, action-filled or horror. Sad to say, I thought it was dumb to watch some local movies in the cinema.
[Based fully on past experiences.]

But the moment the show started, I couldn't stop laughing. I laughed and I laughed till the show actually ended. Yeah, I'm surprised too.
I guess this is the first movie I watched that actually had me laughing the way I did. O.o

The jokes were kinda typical and it was really what they said that made us laughed. Probably it is only what the Sing-Ma people understand. May be lame, but what-the-hell. =p
The best part was when the Mother asks the Ah Long daughter to learn from Man U. Watch the movie and you'll know. I don't wanna be the spoiler. =p

Don't forget to catch this movie IN THE CINEMA. Yeah, I am saying it!
I can assure you that you would probably roll-on-the-floor-laughing as well.

[Only if you understand Chinese, of course. Or rather Malaysian-Chinese.]

Guess my RM10 was truly worthwhile afterall. *bluek*
