Home-Cook Sunday.

And so it's the last day of the week. This is seriously bad. When will I stop holidaying and start getting my working mode on? *sighs*

Yesterday, three of us got all so hyped up when grocery shopping that we purchased ingredients for cook-out today. For morning, we were gonna have pancakes. Save up lunch [for we know the breakfast intended will eventually turn out to be lunch anyway] and we will cook some easy dishes for dinner. Fried fish, black pepper chicken and veggies. That was the initial plan.

Come Sunday and we woke up pretty early. By 11, we've got our pancakes ready. Pat on our shoulders for cooking an awesome, delicious, lips-smacking breakfast! *cheers* It's actually pretty easy anyway with the ready-made flour that we bought. Haha. All we had to do was add water to it. But as easy as it sounds, don't underestimate us the process. *winks*

It's been a while since I last made pancakes. The last time was my first time making pancakes and that's like almost 2 years back, if I have not mistaken. But rusty sure I am not! Check out the first piece we made. Looks pretty good, huh? *grins*
You know you love it~
Honest opinion, do you not agree that it looks just like the ones from Paddington House of Pancakes? Hohoho~

Plain pancakes taste just too flat. So, out to save the day is our Hershey's chocolate syrup. Mm mmm, good. Blogging about it right now makes me hungry for more chocolate! Nothing beats a good breakfast!

[I lurve this photo!]

So, we were talking and then decided it's a breakfast too early to make us skip lunch for the day. We doubt the pancakes could last us till dinnertime anyway. Yes, doubtlessly we rested for about an hour and proceeded to cooking for lunch. Those two pigs went to bed in between. Gosh~! Sleep, eat, sleep again! 'Nuff said. *shakes head*

Lunch was a bigger headache. First, my dearest smart Chee Wei didn't look out for the fire as the potatoes and eggs were put to boil. Thus, the potatoes became too soft [though still usable] for our salad. Nonetheless, he should be hella thankful that the house wasn't burnt down in the process! Sheesh!

Then, we got excess potatoes and we ran out of mayonaisse. The black pepper sauce made our dish of chicken tasted weird. The oyster mushroom tasted like some kinda Chinese noodles [according to Yam]. And the french beans were supposed to be deep fried but we didn't have the right wok for it. The fish was fine, but it was served looking so squashed and distorted as we didn't have a plate wide enough to accommodate it.

Yeap, the only perfectly good tasting dish is indeed the potato salad prepared by yours truly......'s dearest. It is anyhow his signature dish. Haha. Yummy!

What you see above was half of what we were supposed to cook for a meal. But we halved everything as we thought we wanted to do it again later for dinner. But guess what. Haha. I'm sure you guessed it right anyway.

Yes, we are going out for dinner. In like 30 minutes. No, we did not give up cooking [yet]. It's just that we have a sudden craving for tom yam and decided to cure it. You gotta pamper your stomach once in awhile, right? *pats tummy*

*Long Overdue* Sushi Dinner.

Okay, so this is long overdue. Until I almost forgot I wanted to post this up. Better late than never.
*Warning: More overdue posts coming up. ;)*

Dated: 14 March 2009.
Just another Saturday afternoon in Cyberia, bored and lazy. So, the four of us (eLaiNe, Chee Wei, Yamunah and Soon Ming) headed to Alamanda for lunch and window-shopped in Cold Storage after. Like I said, it was a boring and lazy-fying Saturday afternoon. But I don't know what exactly came over us that we suddenly decide to play masak-masak for dinner.
Japanese will be our theme for the night. Reason being that I have this sushi set thingy that I bought awhile back wanting to make some sushi, but got no sushi rice. Haha! Second reason is that Soon Ming is a Japanese fanatic. ;)

Having this plan in mind, we skipped our ooh-and-ahhs session in Cold Storage and rushed to Carrefour to get our ingredients. Got home. Rest for a coupla minutes or an hour or so, and off we go. Cooking time!

Started with preparing the ingredients, and yes my house's kitchen is messy and crowded with the four of us walking up and down, not knowing what to do first. Real noobsters. =p

This is our favourite 'okonomiyaki'. Top with the sauces and bonito flakes (or 'katsuobushi'). ^^ Yummy. I don't wanna brag, but hell yeah, our 'okonomiyaki' is wayyyyyyy better than Sushi King's!!! *pfffffttttt*

Then there's tempura. Fried vegetables and fried crabmeat-sticks. Oily. *yikes*

Part of the main dish - sushi. My task. I don't even know why I'm on this task! I know no nuts about this, although I may have fooled around with making sushi back in high school. Hahaha! Don't even remind me!
So, anyway...It didn't turn out too bad afterall.

It took us almost 3 hours to prepare this dinner! Worthwhile though. :)

We are all so beat up by the end of it. It took us another hour or so just to clean the whole place up!!!
